Blog Vacation

So I suppose I've returned from an unexpected blogging vacation. I never intended to take off but things just got way too busy to keep up!

What got us so busy?

Why this...

We bought a house! Not this house of course, I`m far too paranoid to post a picture of the real house lol. We move in September and I. Am. So. Excited.

No more apartment! No more random noises from other apartments. No more jerk neighbor across the hallway smoking and making my apartment stink. Two bathrooms! Wee!

Whatcha Readin' Monday - Abundance

Whatcha readin’?

Abundance - Sena Jeter Naslund

What attracted you to this book?

The cover lol. Actually, I spied the name Marie Antoinette in the 'sub title' and was therefore immediately interested. I love the time period and royalty so it pretty much just works for me.

Are you flying through it or struggling to get through?

I got through 130 pages the first day I had it and then really didn't have time to read it since. But yes, flying.

Would you suggest this book to anyone? Why or why not?

I would because it's been an easy read and it's pretty interesting and the author has taken a more unusual side to her personality rather than just focusing on the flighty, uglier sides that most people so focus on.

Dates

I miss 'em.

I miss going out with Cookie. It seems like we never do anymore. I know, I know, this happens. I knew it would happen. I also knew I would miss it lol.

Back in the day pre-living on our own and pre-being married we'd go out probably once a week. On our own mind you, not with other people toted along. Usually it was for dinner but maybe it was to a movie. Or to a park for the day. Something.

Bills and life keep us from wanting to spend a lot of money these days which in turn keeps us from wanting to go out because, let's face it, there are few "fun" things to go out and do without spending money.

I was trying to remember the last time we went out on our own and I couldn't! We usually save going out for when friends are with us because generally friends want to go out too lol. I'm thinking it was to Angels and Demons... So over a month ago. Not like I've been brooding over it for days and days, it just occured to me yesterday. Otherwise, the only time Cookie and I have gone out in public together was to grocery shop or buy him some more shorts. Woo!

Hopefully summer helps us out with the going out stuff but I'm thinking with what we're hoping happens by September is going to be keeping us home a lot more. LOL, and now readers think we're trying to have a baby... Admit it, you did. No, we want to buy a house and as if I don't pay enough bills already...

My Dream Career

After watching 'I Love Lucy' for the last few weeks since I bought Cookie the complete series for his birthday I have discovered what career I was born for. Housewife-ery!

Ah, how completely politically incorrect of me.

But seriously, I always wanted to be a housewife. Mostly, because I like cleaning and baking and cooking and feel I don't really have much time to do most of those properly when I work my full time job.

And Lucy takes it to a whole new level. I rarely see her actually work, just get into trouble. And anytime she's trying to find work Ricky discourages it with the old, "I'm am da breadwinner" speech.

I wouldn't even be bored as a housewife. I'd dust! I'd wash the floor of my storage room instead of pretending that since it's out of the main traffic routes of the apartment it doesn't count as floor. I'd make dessert to go with supper! I'd vacuum my couch (if and when I get a new vacuum... Hopefully soon considering the state of my carpets currently).

LOL, I guess I just created a to-do list for myself today.

Yes, I'm thinking I should have been born about sixty years ago...
